Scottish Blackface Sheep

The Blackface breed is the most numerous breed in Britain accounting for over three million ewes, representing 16% of the British pure-bred ewe flock. In 1989 their wool accounted for nearly 40% of the total wool production of Scotland. Overseas the Scottish Blackface wool is used in the production of fine carpets because it has exceptionally hardwearing qualities.
